To celebrate our 90th Anniversary we have created a Piha Rugby shirt to honour our club’s origins.
Piha was the first surf club on the West Coast, started in 1934 by a group of five young men from Waitemata Rugby Club, who had started coming to Piha when one built a bach here. In their first few years as clubbies, they built a surf club, imported a surf boat from Sydney, and introduced surf skis as rescue craft. Club colours were set to match the Waitemata rugby shirt and they worked well for the Piha environment – red for the sunset, green for the bush and black for the iron sands.
Our first run of the shirt earlier this year was very popular and so we have organised a second run to coincide with the start of the season. The shirt will be available from 15th October and pre-sales are available by clicking on the link below.
Shirts are $120 and there is limited stock, sizes range from small to 2XL.
If you are keen get your order in now and help us celebrate 90 years of saving lives.
