PIHA DAY OF GIANTS

Starting the inaugural event in 2006, the Piha Big Wave event known as the Day of Giants has held a reputation as one of the best surf boat events of the year, not just in New Zealand, but across the ditch in neighbouring Australia as well. Years of hard fought rivalries between local crews and those from further afield have made this event one of the true spectacles on the wild west coast.

Historically, Piha competitors have always done well when competing on their own turf, however anything can happen at Piha and the swell here can often reset the odds of even the most favoured boats.
