STAY SAFE,
SWIM BETWEEN
THE FLAGS
WELCOME TO PIHA SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB INC.
Piha Surf Life Saving Club is one of New Zealand’s best.
We patrol to the highest standard to keep you safe at one of New Zealand’s busiest, and most unique beaches.
Proudly celebrating 89 years of lifeguarding.
OUR LIFEGUARDS ARE SPECIAL
Piha Surf Life Saving Club is proud of its lifeguarding services.
Our beach is dangerous and must be respected, and with many tourists and visitors each summer we work hundreds of hours keeping everyone safe.
We are a volunteer service reliant on grants, sponsors and donations and if you can assist us we would love to hear from you.
! SAFETY TIPS !
WHERE TO SWIM?
Between the red & yellow flags is the area we patrol most, and where you will be safe. We are always watching this area, so always make sure you swim there and stay inside the two flags.
ARE YOU IN TROUBLE?
Raise your hand and try to stay calm. One hand raised above your head is the signal that you are in trouble and we will respond as quickly as possible.
FISHING FROM ROCKS
When fishing from rocks always wear a life jacket, and don’t go alone. Don’t stand near the waters edge as waves can be unpredictable and you may get washed into the sea.
CAUGHT IN A RIP
Try swimming parallel with the shore to escape the rip, then swim towards the ashore. Don’t try and swim against the rip current as you will tire quickly. Raise your hand directly above your head and stay calm.
SPONSORS AND GRANTS
Without the help of our sponsors and grants, we wouldn’t be able to do the job we do – Thank You!
